FOR our photo flashback to the 80s and 90s this week, we turn the clock back to look at some local businesses.

It was a special anniversary for a much-loved Largs seafront pub – the Ye Old Anchor Inn.

In 1990, the Gallowgate Street pub was celebrating its 200th birthday and current owner Niven Patterson can be seen in the picture with his own family and staff.

Niven took the popular hostelry over in 1996 from his father William after he retired.

Elsewhere it was fun and party games at Francis John hairdressing salon in Largs as the staff dressed up for Halloween.

Looking slick in Fairlie were Scott and Michelle McAulay who were saying ‘Cheers’ at the Mudhook after winning the Largs and Millport News ‘Win a Meal’ competition and taking a bold step into the future in the 1980s were Kelburn Travel, who were using the latest cutting edge computing technology to book a holiday.

Allan Wilson’s chemist staff were busy dressing up for Yuletide Evening with Jimmy Wilson, Nancy Wilson, Irene Elmslie, Marta Rae, Ann McMath, Lauren Young, Andrew Neilso, and Julie Boyle all pictured.

Also pictured here are Nardini’s workers with their Viking Festival float – with a young Claudio and Sara Nardini in the photo, alongside Paolo Nardini, Stefano Pepin and Robbie Giovino.
